During the day, I’m the CTO of an IT Service Management (ITSM) software vendor.
At night, I don my rubber catsuit, put on my velcro mask and become…. Amateur Programmer!
Everything on this site is a result of my feeble fumblings in the world of software and systems development. The phrase “does not represent the opinion of my employer” hardly needs to be uttered.
I’m a Microsoft fan, and a Linux fan, believe it or not. Windows pretty much works, CLR is good, C# is fab, and Silverlight (and the attendant WCF RIA Services) is awesome. Yet, I grew up with UNIX, way before Linux became a household name, and resolutely try to run as many of my own systems on Linux as I possibly can.
My motto is “why buy it for £49 when you can spend 12 weeks hooking together £500 worth of kit, and a whole heap of custom code, to deliver something 3/4 as good?!”
Current fave technologies / playthings are;
- SharpArchitecture
- Silverlight
- WCF RIA Services
- SharpSSH
- Automation on Linux
- Ubuntu, especially LAMP
Cheers!
